Annual Financial and Non-Financial Performance Information for the 2018/19 Financial Year Ms Phindile Mkwanazi Acting Principal: National School of Government 09 October 2019 Outline of Presentation 2 Introduction Summary of Audit Outcomes Annual Performance Plan 2018/19 Highlights of Annual Performance 3 Years Trend of the APP Performance Annual Performance for Programme 1: Administration Annual Performance for Programme 2: Public Sector Organisational & Staff Development Responses to the recommendations of the Portfolio Committee Introduction The presentation to the Portfolio Committee provides the financial and non-financial performance of the National School of Government (NSG) for the 2018/19 financial year, measured against the approved Annual Performance Plan (APP) The NSG set 24 performance targets in the APP, of which 21 performance targets were achieved as planned. 2 performance targets were not achieved, and 1 performance target had no activity as it is demand-driven (the target depended on the disciplinary cases lodged against the employee by employer within a particular reporting period). This translates to an overall performance achievement of 91% of the total planned targets for the financial year. NSG trained a total of 61 005 learners in all streams against a performance target of 48 514 learners. The NSG has exceeded training targets in three of its four training streams, as well as the target on unemployed youth graduates. This translate to 126% achievement Following the audit of the financial year by the AGSA, the school received a clean audit on the NSG Vote Account and an unqualified audit on the NSG TTA. 3 SUMMARY OF AUDIT OUTCOMES The NSG has two sets of Financials which were audited by the AG namely: NSG Vote Account (Programme 1) NSG Trading Training Account (Programme 2) Audit outcome The NSG Vote Account received a clean audit opinion The NSG Trading Training Account an unqualified audit opinion with findings 4 3 YEARS TREND OF AUDIT OUTCOMES 4 3 YEARS TREND OF AUDIT OUTCOMES 4 Highlights of Annual Performance The NSG trained 130 participants (including rangers, hospitality personnel and managers from various business units) of SANParks on the Emerging Management Development Programme in partnership with a higher education institution. The NSG successfully completed the innovative development and internal approval of the SMS Pre-Entry Programme: Nyukela. This is a new compulsory programme intended to standardize access to the senior management echelon. The NSG convened workshops as part of building capacity, on topics such as Community Participation and Leadership
