Department of Transport Annual Report Presentation 2019/20 1 Key Focus Areas, Background and Overview Overall Performance Key Achievements Areas of Non-achievement Performance of Conditional Grants Human Resources Development Initiatives Governance Overview of Financial Results Summary of the Report of the AGSA Contents 2 Performance of the Department of Transport (DoT); Non-financial and financial results DoT Organisational Health and Capability to deliver on policy objectives. Key Focus Areas for the Report 3 Report focuses on the progress made with the implementation of programmes & projects in 2019/20; Targets are aligned to the Apex Priorities of the 6th Administration; Focus was on optimal performance of deliverables in terms of the Medium Term Strategic Framework & Medium Term Expenditure Framework; Background 4 Overview of the Transport Sector for the 2019/20 Financial Year 5 The National Development Plan (NDP) emphasizes necessity of sound economic infrastructure as a pre-condition for economic growth; The APP 2019/20 highlights the DoT’s commitment to address major social and economic challenges facing the sector through interventions aimed at accelerating service delivery, increasing job opportunities, rural development and skills development; The report emphasizes the DoT’s continued restatement of the need for increased investments in public transport infrastructure, restructuring of current subsidies to promote integrated settlements and transport infrastructure projects to improve access to opportunities for the urban and rural poor. MTSF Pillars The MTSF 2019-2024 aims to address the challenges of unemployment, inequality and poverty through three pillars: Achieving a More Capable State; Driving a Strong and Inclusive Economy; Building and Strengthening the Capabilities of South Africans. 6 Seven (7) Apex Priorities of the 6th Administration Building A Capable, Ethical And Developmental State Economic Transformation and Job Creation Education, Skills and Health Consolidating the Social Wage through Reliable and Quality Basic Services Spatial Integration, Human Settlements and Local Government Social Cohesion and Community Safety A Better Africa and World 7 PERFORMANCE INFORMATION 8 Total Number of Targets = 29 Total Targets Achieved = 26 Targets Not Achieved= 3 Overall Achievement = 90% DoT Overall Performance 9 DoT Annual Performance 2019/20 10 DoT Comparative Analysis: Performance per programme per Quarter 2019/20 11 DoT Overall Performance: Quarter 01 – Quarter 04 12 KEY ACHIEVEMENTS 13 Human Resource Development (HRD) Monitoring Report finalised and submitted to the Department of Administration and Administration (DPSA) in March 2020; Action plan to address AGSA audit findings implemented; Risk Management Strategy implemented and monitoring report developed as targeted.
