Effective lighting is a big part of the theater experience.
A major lighting upgrade (2000+ bulbs) leveraging $13,000 in program incentives is helping save~ 73,000 kWhs and $7,300 each year.
The Strand’s facility manager—not a huge fan of heights—no longer needs to reach high places doing frequent bulb changes before performances!
Last year, businesses that participated in SWEPCO’s C&I energy efficiency programs saved an estimated $3.5 million on utility bills.

In 2019, the historic theater was in danger of closing yet again as a result of mounting debt and deferred maintenance. With the help of generous donors and a full LED lighting upgrade through SWEPCO’s energy efficiency programs, the Strand entered 2020 debt-free for the first time in its history.<br>

A lighting and HVAC system upgrade enabled through over $21,000 in incentives, Mt. Rainier will save over 21 thousand kWhs annually.
Together with other energy efficiency projects the town has completed, this will save over $15,000 each year.
Last year, Pepco’s Small Business Program served 4,695 customers, achieving estimated savings of 34 million kWh. Mt. Rainier, Maryland - Opened in an historic storefront in 1952, the Mt. Rainier public library not only lends books but is a treasured community gathering spot. In 2018, when news that the library might close due to the presence of asbestos, citizens were quick to call for action. But small towns are often cash strapped to make improvements. Town officials connected with Pepco and with its help, the library received a walk-through audit with an itemized list of energy efficiency opportunities, estimated savings, and associated costs.
