Innovation Management and Business Development Module Module info 8.4.2024 Sven Rassl Why choose this module? Most of the business development is based on innovations, some small some bigger. Managing the innovation process is a valuable skill combined with any other line of business studies in any business sector. The direct career opportunities are in business consulting, as an example, in fast growing companies like Futurice, Gofore, Solita etc. STRUCTURE OF THE MODULE Weeks 3 – 51 Coaching once a week, Working time twice a week Innovations and Business Management 5 cr for all (+ exchange students) Consultation Projects Business Development Focus 10 cr Consultation Projects Entrepreneurship Focus 10 cr Weeks 35 – 39 Classes twice a week either or (just for degree students) INNOVATIONS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - intensive start for innovations 5 credits Course contents What are innovations and how are they born? How to foster innovations? How to evaluate feasibility of the innovation? How to develop profitable products and services from innovations? What are intellectual property rights? Study methods Classes about innovation process, tools and methods, requires class attendance Learning diary (writing a toolkit for yourself) Practical exercise(s) CONSULTATION PROJECTS, Business Development Focus or Entrepreneurship Focus 10 credits Applying the theories into practice either with bigger or smaller companies You may express your preference, the execution depends on the quality of the commissioners for the projects. In both cases the study methods are the same: Planning, implementing & reporting a project for a real commissioner Working in a team Utilising the methods and tools learned in the preceding course.
