slide3. What do we mean by ETHICS Most basic level, ethics is the study of doing what is right or good
The way by which we determine the “right” course of action<br>
slide4. Ethical Dilemmas? 5 common areas When the application or boundary of an ethical standard is unclear
When standards conflict with institutional demands
When there are conflicting loyalties
When a professional finds it difficult to adhere to an ethical standard
When good solutions seem unattainable<br>
slide5. Making this more difficult with minors…. Is informed consent relevant for clients who have NO LEGAL right to give consent?
What are the boundaries of confidentiality for a youth whose parents are financially responsible and worried about the youth’s well being?
How can a you uphold responsibility to the identified client/child and the commitment not to abandon the client/child when the child’s parents abruptly disrupt services?<br>

Which option creates the greatest good for the greatest number? Deontological/Rule based
Duty, obligation, and universal moral principles
Some actions are inherently right or wrong regardless of context or outcomes<br>
