02
Thesis Statement Playing video games have the benefit to improve basic visual processes, attention and vigilance and enhance the cognitive flexibility.
03
Main point I Playing video games can improve in basic visual processes.
Visual selective attention
Treatment for amblyopia
Resolve small visual details in presence of visual distractors
Fifty hours of action video game play (spread ten to twelve weeks) improved visual contrast sensitivity (the ability to distinguish subtle differences in shades of gray) compared to controls (Li et al., 2009).
04
Main point II Playing video games help to improve attention and vigilance.
Locate quickly a target stimulus when played in a field of distractors
Remain calm refrain from responding to non-target stimuli
Treatment for dyslexia
(trick et al., 2005) stated that action games improved the ability of children and adults to keep track of a set of moving objects that were visually identical to other moving objects in the visual field.
05
Main Point III Playing video games can help to enhance the cognitive flexibility.
Improve multi-tasking
Improve cognitive flexibility, attention, working memory & abstract reasoning
Improve dual-task test
(Chiappi and colleagues, 2013) found that 50 hours of experience on an action video game significantly improved performance on a test called the Multi-Attribute Task battery, which is modelled after skills required in piloting aircraft. It involved using a joystick to keep a target centred on a screen, monitoring fuel levels, responding to light on an instrument panel and listening and responding to radio communication.
06
Conclusion Playing a video games have proved that it can boost the individuals in many different perspectives especially in term of attention and vigilance, cognitive flexibility along with execute functioning and improve the basic visual processes.
