Teaching Points: (a) Meaning of Food (b) Importance of food (c) Contents of food (d) Function of food General Aim: To develop Attitude towards Learning, Scientific Temperament, Thinking skill, Control of Emotion, Curiosity, Enhance Knowledge etc. Specific Aim : To know the Meaning, Importance and Contents of food, to Develop the co-relation, Understanding and Application Some Questions and Answers Teacher: We often say and hear: Mom, I am feeling very hungry! Give me something to eat! Question: What do you eat when you feel hungry? Answer: I eat Rice, Puri & Sabji, Snaks etc when we feel hungry. Answer: I eat Dosa, Idli, Maggie, Juices etc. when we feel hungry! Question: If you don’t eat food for a day or two, what will happen to you? Answer: We will feel weak! We will not be able to do work properly! etc. Question: Do you eat the same types of food every day? Answer: No! I eat different types of food on different days. Important Points You know cadets,Hunger is an indication that our body requires food. We can fulfil our hunger by eating food. We eat different types of food at different times of a day! Food is very essential for our body. Peoples of different regions take different types of food. Today we shall discuss the importance of food! Impotence of Food Food: The safe eatables that are required for our body in order have both Physical and Mental growths are known as foods. Nutrients: The substances that are present in the food we eat and are essential for the physical and the mental growth of our body are known as nutrients. e.g. Carbohydrate, Protein, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals etc. Ingredients: The substances that are required to prepare a dish are known as ingredients. Kheer: Rice, Milk, Sugar, Cashew, Raisins etc. Importance of food: We need food for many reasons: Food gives us energy to carry out all our activities. Food provides the materials required for the growth of our body. Food helps the body to repair and replace worn-out cells. Food helps to protect the body from diseases. Some questions and Answers Question: Make a list of food items that people eat in Assam. Answer: The people of Assam eat Rice, Dal , Mixed vegetables, Salad, Fries, Rice Cakes, Curd, Kheer etc. Question: Make a list
