Study Material for B.A 6th Semester ( General Course) By T. R.Baruah. Role of the Communist Party in the Peoples Republic of China The Peoples Republic of China is a unique type of state. It is unique in the sense that the constitutional system in China is founded upon the principles of Marxism- Leninism as applied to China. The main objective Chinese Constitution is to establish a socialist system and to gradually abolish the exploitation existing in the society. The Constitution of China is a simple and brief document containing only 106 articles. The Communist Party of China occupies supreme position in the country. In the constitution it has been clearly described that it is the vanguard of the working people. The Chinese Communist Party was established on 23rd July, 1921 by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao. In the initial stage it had only 13 members . At present it has 90,594,000 members. The membership of the party is open to all persons above the age of 18 years. Mao-Tse-Tung was the unquestionable leader of the Communist Party. He dominated the Chinese political scene like a colossus. Mao was the main exponent of Marxism and Leninism in his country and he interpreted the principles of Marxian to make it suitable to the Chinese society. The Communist Party plays the pivotal role in the country. It is the guiding force behind all major policies to be adopted by the state and society in China. Communist Party was the main architect of Communist revolution in China: China is the most powerful Communist country in Asia. The Chinese Communist Party was the main architect of a communist revolution in China. In 1921 it originated like a very small group of just 13 members but gradually it registered a spectacular rise ,particularly after 1935 when Mao Tse Tung emerged as its leader. From 1921 to 1935 it had a weak structure and very limited role and influence. During that period Chiang Kai Shek was the leader of China and e decided to control further growth of communist influence in China. By the time of end of the Second World War, Mao was quite successful in bringing a socialist revolution in China through a war of peoples liberation which finally broke out in 1945.
