slide1. Work environment and Equal Opportunities at IEG
In line with current guidelines at Uppsala University (UU), the department of Ecology and Genetics (IEG) has produced this document which contains an information overview and an annual cycle for work environmental and equal opportunities work at IEG. The document is geared primarily to the department’s employees.
Goal
IEG shall be characterized by a good working environment, physically, organizationally and socially. Zero tolerance prevails towards bullying, victimization and harassment. IEG works actively for a health-promoting and sustainable work environment with equal rights and opportunities for all employees and students. This contributes to the department being a place of learning with a safe, stimulating and challenging learning and research environment. It creates the conditions for successful operations and contributes to the department being an attractive employer.
Prevention and promotion I focusWorking systematically with working environment and equal opportunities promotes the health of employees and students and prevents conflicts, unwanted behavior, abusive differential treatment, harassment, discrimination, sick leave, and more. The work is planned and developed with respect for the UN conventions on human rights, the work environment legislation, discrimination legislation and other relevant legislation that we as a university must comply with.
ResponsibilityThe head of department is overall responsible for the work environment and equal opportunities. Program managers have been delegated responsibility for specific work environment tasks in order to ensure that the work environment requirements are met within each program and unit.
The work environment and equal opportunities group The work environment and equal opportunities group consists of representatives from each staff category, administrative manager and head of department as well as safety representatives. The group collaborates in coordination and handling of overall work environment and equal opportunities issues i.e. develops routines, prepares proposals for annual action plans, guidelines and policies and follows up on decisions and measures.
Annual cycle
The work is planned and activities are carried out in an annual cycle for systematic work environment and equal opportunities management. Control and follow-up is carried out on an ongoing basis in the work environment and equal opportunities group.
Annual follow-up
Once a year there is a major follow-up of the entire work which is reported to the IEG board. A summary is available on MP.<br>
