A hunting trophyA hunting trophy is an item prepared from the body of a game animal killed
by
a hunter and
kept as a souvenir of the successful hunting or fishing expedition.Often, the heads or entire bodies are processed by a taxidermist, although sometimes other body parts such as teeth, tusks, or horns are used as the trophies.Such trophies are often displayed in the hunter's home or office, and often in specially designed "trophy rooms," sometimes called "game rooms" or "gun rooms," in which the hunter's weaponry is displayed as well.Slide3

How to put it togetherSlide6
How to StartYou will need to find a few images of the animal you wish to create:
-a frontal view of the head
-a side view of the head
-any additional images you need-Make sure the animal in the images is in the same position, mouth is the same, ears are the same, etc.Slide7
Start by making the stencils due by Friday for progress grade
The stencils will be made out of the green paper and tracing paper on the back table.
Create the side silhouette first. Do not include ears, eyes, horns, etc. These will go on the horizontal slats, see example.
These will then be traced onto the cardboard for your final pieces lightly in pencil.Slide8
Cardboard pieces due by Friday 5/13
Take your stencils and trace them on the cardboard
Cut them out carefully and neatly with scissors and
exacto knives (use a blue cutting board underneath)Cut slats in the horizontal cross pieces that have at least ½ inch left on top. Each piece must be cut in the same place to fit. These will be about 1/16 of an inch wide (see demonstration)The shield will be made out of two pieces of cardboard that will be larger than the back end of the neck of the animal. These will be glued onto the animal for display.Slide9
ObjectivesAnimal silhouette cannot be larger than the 18x24 green paper but must be a minimum of 12 inches across
Each horizontal piece must be 1inch apart. This will allow for correct spacing
All pieces much be neatly cut out and pencil marks should be drawn lightly so as to erase afterword's
The animals basic contour shape needs to be apparentNo glue will be showing
