Hydrosphere (Saltwater): Transcript

By Hope Stokes Trey Judge Aaron Bruney Coriolis Effect A mass moving in a rotating system experiences a force called the coriolis force acting perpendicular to the direction of motion and to the axis of rotation It makes the water on the opposite side of the earth rotate in opposite directions . 72small amount of temperature rise.E.Water expands in volume when it freezes/ becomes colder, in contrast to majority ofsubstances (which contract when colder)1.Result Density of ice 2.Also of import www.saltwater.ri.gov Fees: $7 RI residents (annual) $10 Non-residents (annual) $5 7-day Available from certain bait & tackle shops beginning June 1, 2010 (details to follow) Free for RI residents ove 1.1 A New View of Earth. answer # 1-5 (pg. 7).  . 1.2 The Earth System's Four Spheres. answer # 1-6 (pg. 12).  . 1.3 Cycles and the Earth. answer # 1-5 (pg. 18).  . Because of this, Earth is called ‘the Water Planet.’. It is also called this because water is found in all three forms:. Hydrosphere. The . hydrosphere. is formed by all bodies of . water. on the Earth’s surface.. Some parts are: oceans, rivers, streams, . lakes, underground, atmosphere (. vapour. ), glaciers.. Covers approximately . Starter: Process or Store?. List numbers 1-10 in your books and write whether you think the following parts of the hydrosphere are stores or processes…. 1. Ice Caps. 2. Rain. 3. Rivers. 4. Condensation. Saltwater Intrusion. What is a Water Well?. Part 1. Draw a water well in the ground. Part 2. Show how water gets into the well. AQUIFER. : Saturated rock and sediment that water can flow through. Part 3. Types of Saltwater Ecosystems. Chapter review questions. answer # 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19-23 (pgs. 22-23). The . hydrosphere. contains all the water found on our planet.. Water found on the surface of our planet includes the ocean as well as water from lakes and rivers, streams, and creeks.. Water found under the surface of our planet includes water trapped in the soil and groundwater.. Rules. There are 2 teams. 1 player from both teams will rock, paper, scissors . The winner gets to choose “PASS or PLAY”. If the winner chooses “PLAY”. She will try to answer the question correctly. If correct, then her team gets to answer as many questions as they can until they achieve 3 wrong answers.. This includes water in the oceans, lakes, rivers, wetlands, polar ice caps, soil, rock layers beneath Earth’s surface, and clouds.. The Hydrosphere. Chapter 3. Section 3 . The Hydrosphere and Biosphere. Climate and Temperature . The climate of the marine biome is mostly varied. Since it is the largest biome in the world, the climate varies from -40 degrees fahreheit to over 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is warmer near the equator where the direct rays of sun can pierce the water and warm it. The coldest is in the north and south poles, where the water is close to freezing if not frozen (Glaciers). Also, the deeper the ocean is, the colder the water will be because the sunlight isn't directly piercing it..
