The Law on lotteriesThere are two important issues for charities and organisations who are fundraising by lottery:The person managing the lottery must be a member or employee of the society/charity who the lottery is for.The person promoting the lottery must have written authorisation from the society/charity to act as the promoter. Lotteries and Amusement Act 1976

Four General Principlesa) A legal principle underpinning fundraising is that all funds raised for a particular cause MUST be used for that particular cause.b) Fundraisers OUGHT NOT to denigrate other individuals or organisations.c) Organisations OUGHT NOT to exaggerate facts relating to the potential beneficiary.d) Organisations OUGHT NOT to take advantage of mistakes made by the donor.

Institute of FundraisingThe IoF aims to support its members and the wider fundraising community by:  Creating a better environment for fundraisers to raise money Increasing understanding of fundraising Enabling fundraisers to be the best they can be www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk
