1. System Approach related to 2 lane (M,N) and 1 lane vehicles. How to proceed?SLR-38-22

2. Idea System AverageAFS System = 1 system representing 2 lamps having double the performance of the light table(Only 1 AFS system per R48 is allowed, having at least 2 headlamps per side and 2 times the performance of the relevant photometric table on the road), tested with „half of sum“ and comparing with tableMotorcycles want to use ADB system, but instead of 2 lamps, only 1 lamp. (Half of the AFS system)Idea of having 2 system categories: (System Average)System Cat. 1 = 1 system representing 1 lamp having 1times the performance of the tableEither tested instead with „sum“ or system average Cat.2Needs extra markingSystem Cat. 2 = as today = 1 system representing 2 lamps having 2 times the performance of the tableTested with „half of the sum“ L+R side or system average Cat.2AFS marking starting with „X“ – marks as AFS SystemDisadvantage of „system average“ -> Complex, but futureproofAlternative Solution:Idea only to use System Average Cat. 2 or „Half of the sum“ for all vehicle beams but motorcycle should define ½ systems with extra markings1 AFS system1/2 AFS system

3. Idea System AverageAlternative Solution:Idea only to use only System Average Cat. 2 or „Half of the sum“ for all vehicle beams, the extra Marking would be a „Y“ in front of the convetional (stand alone) marking. motorcycle should define allowance of ½ of such systems with extra markings for their system, in principle 1 system contributing in sum to 1 time the photometric table, perhaps delete System Cat.21 AFS system1/2 AFS system

4. Proposal :APPLY HALF OF SUM FOR ALL BEAMSAdd column of half of sum to all tables. (see next pages )Need to discuss how to apply for F3 fog lamp. (Table 19)Add description and Yes/No column about Half of sum to Annex 1Extra marking should be necessary (e.g. Arrow / Symbol / Bar)SYSTEM AVERAGE CONCEPT / System Category 1 and System Cat. 2Idea of System Cat1 and Cat.2 :System Cat.2 (“2 lane”): 2 times the performance of the light table i.e. (Sum of all beam contributors of the system) / 2 (~2 headlamps)[System Cat.1 (“1 lane”): 1 times the performance of the light tablei.e. (Sum of all beam contributors of the system) / 1(~1 headlamp) ]  PERHAPS DELETE ITProposal of definition for R149 ; two new paragraphs:2.3.1 “System average” of category 1 means a system which has one time the performance of the relevant photometric table in this regulation. It is provided by one or more lamps which contribute in sum to the photometry of the relevant tables. 2.3.1 “System average” of category 2 means a system which has two times the performance of the relevant photometric table in this regulation. It is provided by one or more lamps which contribute with half of the sum to the photometry of the relevant tables.
