Mission Phases during Proximity Operations

The proximity operations phase involves performing a set of hyperbolic flyby arcs to

characterise

the

Didymos

system and operate the payloads.See the talks by :HERA Approach and Arrival at Didymos: Mission Design and Timeline (T. Hormigo)

HERA close proximity trajectories and constraints (A. Pellacani)

ECP: Early Characterization Phase (ECP)

First assessment of the binary’s orbit and dynamical behaviour. Detailed Characterization Phases (DCP1, DCP2, DCP3)

To perform a detailed characterization and to build a landmark database to navigate the S/C.

New version (v0.5.0) of the study Hera SPICE Kernel Dataset has been released.

Operations plan

Teleconf

on 06/09/2019 on first draft of the operations plan

Discussion on distances and phase angles.

Next steps

Update operational constraints (HGA orientation, downlink periods, etc.) & Verify/update Instrument requirements Verify close-proximity trajectories compatibility with the required mission measurements Iteration of trajectory vs. requirements if neededSee the talk :Planning and Operation of Hera/AFC (J. Deller)
