License Description: Individuals must have graduated from accredited 2-year respiratory therapy educational program, must pass the National Board for Respiratory Care entry-level examination and must have either met the eduucational criteria to sit for the advanced practicioner examinations or have been issued the respiratory therapist credential by the board. Individuals must provide a work history for the time subsequent to receipt of osteopathic degree. Individuals must list states where credentials were granted and were applied for, provide information on physical and mental health, lack of impairment due to chemical dependency, any felony convictions or loss or limitations of privileges, any disciplinary actions and a professional liability claims history. Individuals must submit application and pay required fee.

License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Veterinarian treats injuries of animals and tries to prevent, control, and cure animal diseases. They diagnose medical problems, perform surgery, prescribe medicines, and vaccinate animals. They also advise owners on animal care. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Education requirements: Graduate of a veterinary college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) or an expected graduate within 6 months from an AVMA accredited veterinary college. EXAMINATIONS: National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (NBVME)-developed, computer-based North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE). State of Hawaii Board of Veterinary Medicine licensing exam FEES: If between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, pay $180 for license ($100 for application, $30 for exam, $50 for compliance resolution fund) If between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023, pay $360 for license ($100 for application, $30 for exam, $100 for compliance resolution fund, $130 1/2 renewal) OTHER: There were 413 licenses currently active as of February 17, 2021. ~ revised 06/20
