STI #1: Caltrain Electric Multiple Unit Vehicle Procurement -$2,450,000 - Building from the ongoing effort to electrify and modernize the Caltrain corridor, an expansion set of 37 Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains are being procured. These EMU’s are scheduled to run between 4th & King Station in San Francisco and Tamien Station in San Jose beginning in 2024. These EMU’s will drive ridership by increasing service frequency and improving the system’s carrying capacity. If successful, funds from this application will be used to purchase 1 EMU.

Affordable Housing Development (AHD)Weeks Street. Mid-Peninsula The Farm, Inc. (The Farm) and East Palo Alto Community Alliance and Neighborhood Development Organization (EPACANDO) are collaborating with the City of East Palo Alto to develop 2.52 acres of vacant, City-owned land into 136 multi-family affordable rental homes for low-income residents in San Mateo County. The unit mix includes studios, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. 135 of the 136 units will be restricted to households earning 80% or less of the Area Median Income and one one-bedroom unit is unrestricted manager’s units. 6% of the units will be set aside for persons experiencing homelessness.

is a planned express route that will be operated by SamTrans between East Palo Alto and San Bruno serving multiple points in between including Menlo Park, Redwood City, Redwood Shores, and

SFO

via US 101. This improvement will support 30 minute peak-hour frequency through the procurement of three new battery-electric bus vehicles. This improvement will support two years of operating costs for an additional bus per hour the regular operating schedule of Route 281 in East Palo Alto for two years. Improvement was identified as a community need through public engagement activities associated with ongoing Reimagine SamTrans project.

Program PGM #1: Workforce Dev., Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Career Training Program - $195,000 - JobTrain will provide career training, job placement, skills upgrade, job readiness, and supportive services to residents of East Palo Alto, east Menlo Park, North Fair Oaks, and the future residents of 965 Weeks Street, who are facing significant barriers to employment and need targeted employment assistance to help them succeed.

JobTrain's Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Career Training Program will provide students with an introduction to construction and environmental training, including HAZWOPER, OSHA & Confined Space Training, as well as construction skills and math geared toward construction apprenticeships. These programs and services are provided at no cost, and designed to empower students with the tools & resources they need to succeed in this highly competitive industry.PGM #2: Transit Ridership, SamTrans Way2Go Ridership Program - $142,125 - One transit pass will be provided per unit for unlimited use of the SamTrans transit network for 3 years, free of charge to the residents.

$337,125Transportation Related Amenities (TRA)TRA #1: Pedestrian Lighting and Urban Greening Improvements on Rail Trail Spur - $750,000 - Provide increased lighting and urban greening along the rail trail spur located behind the 965 Weeks project, a separated pedestrian and bicycle pathway.TRA #2: Pedestrian Lighting, Furnishings, and Urban Greening on 965 Weeks Site - $250,000 - Provide new street trees, lighting, and furnishings on Weeks Street and on pedestrian connections to the rail spur at the rear of the AHD site to improve both bike and walking connectivity to the rail spur and enrich the pedestrian experience on Weeks Street.$1,00,000STI# 3: SRTS Improvements, Gap Closures, and Bike Master Plan Implementation -$780,000 - Pedestrians projects include an upgraded pedestrian walkway along the rail trail spur behind the 965 Weeks Housing location, as well as new sidewalk on Garden Street which must be constructed to facilitate access to local schools. This project also involves the installation of Class II and III (bike boulevard) facilities as established in the City's Mater Bike Plan located on the Rail Trail Spur, Fordham, Pulgas, Clarke and Weeks streets. These context sensitive bike facilities will be a total of 3.76 miles in length, with signage and striping.
