Police Dept / Stats March 2017AccomplishmentsWe signed a multi-agency agreement with the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office. This also includes other agencies, such as the Cities of Heber Springs, Searcy, Quitman, Batesville, Vilonia, etc., and the counties of Cleburne, Van Buren, White, and Independence. This is a mutual aid pact that offers the participants additional certified Officers in the event of a major incident, as well as resources and equipment. We have been awarded a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the Dept. of Justice. It is for $3500.00. We will begin purchasing the items under that grant within the next few days.Slide7

PlansWe are finalizing the plans for the Kids Bicycle Safety Program. This includes the date and time, as well as getting the help we need with volunteers. A few Sheriff’s Deputies will be assisting as well. We are prepping for a department inventory soon. Hopefully that will take place around May or June. This will help with seeing what we have, compared to what we need. We have equipment needs, but overall, we are in decent shape, no glaring deficiencies at this time.We received some bids for the building security at DPS. The access program was also adjusted and fixed (by a different company) so we are not in a hurry to replace anything yet, as long as it keeps working. Slide8
