It’s hard to believe that October is here! I have enjoyed meeting many of you this past summer and at Open House. Thank you to those of you who attended our Open House on September 19th. Be on the look out for additional activities throughout the year! As a reminder, our new schedule supports a scholar to obtain and engage in an internship on Tuesday and Thursdays. This hands-on learning experience will support them in their personal projects and participate in authentic job training opportunities. Increasing Parent and Scholar Engagement This School Year The voices of our scholars and parents matter! We are expanding opportunities for you and your child to share what successes we can build upon and what we can do better. In August, school and district leaders attended a listening session where eighteen parents and guardians and seven scholars candidly shared their experience with what is working and what could be improved in Federal Way Public Schools. What else is new for this school year? The Scholar Advisory to the Superintendent has been in place for the last three years. Now this initiative will be scaled across the district so all schools have 20+ students who meet with their principals to share what’s working at the school and what can be improved.
If your child is interested in serving on the Career Academy scholar advisory team, please email Ms. Boline at cboline@fwps.org directly!Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell is starting an advisory with over 70 parents and guardians to share various approaches the district is taking and to listen to trends of what is working and what is not. All parents and guardians had an opportunity to express their interest and two parent representatives selected from each site will participate on the advisory on a monthly basis.
