Review
Yesterday, we talked about conditionals. We can use
unless
(“if not”) as a requirement or strong warning.
Let’s have each student come up to write an example of a sentence with the word, “unless.” Slide4
Review
We use first conditionals with the
if
clause as the condition, and the main clause as the result of that condition.
They show results that are possible in the present or future.
EXAMPLE:
If I do not go to bed early, I will be tired tomorrow.Slide5
If my cat and my dog have a fight, I think my cat will win. Slide6
If a tiger and a deer had a fight, who will win? Slide7
If a piranah and a jellyfish had a fight, who would win? Slide8
What about this one? Slide9
First and Second Conditionals
Since there is a much higher chance of my cat and dog fighting, you should use the 1
st
conditional
We use the sentence, “If a
piranah
and a jellyfish had a fight, the jellyfish would win” because there is a lesser chance of them fighting. Therefore, we use the 2
nd
conditional. Slide10
