Environment
The puffins have thick layer of fat to keep them warm from the cold weather. The black on the back of the puffin absorbs heat to keep them warm. The puffins beaks change colours during breeding seasons. The temperature in Burhou island is cold in summer months. The puffins are rarely seen on shore unless it is the breeding season, therefore they must float or fly on the water for the rest of the year.
