Purpose of Program

Texas Education Code, §32.301

The program awards grants to LEAs to implement a technology lending program to loan students the equipment necessary to access and use digital instructional materials.

With the Technology Lending Grant, LEAs can continue using digital instructional materials while ensuring equitable access for students through loaned equipment for learning off campus.

What can be purchased?

“Equipment”

means personal, portable wireless devices such as laptops, tablets, or other technological devices that provide access to those digital materials required to meet the objectives of the district’s or charter school’s technology plan.

How will PISD implement the program?

Provide Home Internet AccessThe district will purchase 39 MiFi devices for check out. This will allow students on a fixed income or in a rural setting to have access to the internet. Families will check these devices out for use. Contract for checkout will be signed by parents. Devices can be easily disabled if lost or stolen.
