RISER PROJECT n/o back to back kitchens

Why you are special! Access to an “n” kitchen might be thru the “o” kitchen and vice versa!

Which one? “N” or “O”? The side that would be the easiest/least expensive to dismantle – no backsplash, old cabinetry, etc. In case of a tie, “n” unit because tenting isn ’ t as invasive.

General information When you see floor protection in the main hall from the service elevator to your unit you know we will probably be there the next day to start removing the wall. floor Protection will be placed from your front door to your kitchen and will remain until your unit is complete Monday thru Friday, Work will start at 8am. Since the sinks must be functional before the plumbers leave, it may continue until after 5pm.

General information - continued At the end of each day there will be water in the kitchen that did not have a wall removed There will be a lot of noise The service elevator will be used intermittently to bring in pipes, etc.

General information - continued When complete, the walls affected will be patched and prime painted Cabinets , sinks and countertops will be re-installed Ceiling to floor protection will be put up at kitchen (both sides in case of “N”) and will remain for the duration of the project

Some positives… Cleaner water Hotter water Better water pressure Shut-off valves are under the sink

Time line (using the term loosely) The first day the contractor makes the hole in the wall – starting on the 19 th floor. The following day the plumbers start working the plumbing and construction will take approximately 3-4 weeks All dates and times are subject to change without notice

How to prepare Provide a copy of your unit key, mark it clearly with unit number and Drop It in the office mail slot If you do not have a duplicate key – have one made All keys will be kept until after that riser is complete – you may not pick them up, at the end of each day Keys will be kept in the management office Remove any decorative key rings

How to prepare - continued Plumbers and contractors will be coming in and out of your units every day of the project If you have pets - who want to bolt out the front door - put them behind a closed door or gate Put a post-it note on your door telling the contractor that you have a pet or pets (how many?)

How to prepare - continued All of these ‘Housekeeping’ items should remain, in place for the duration of this kitchen riser. if your kitchen is not being dismantled: MAKE A CLEAR PATH FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR TO YOUR SINK Remove everything around and under your sink Empty your dishwasher

How to prepare - continued IF YOUR KITCHEN IS BEING DISMANTLED REMOVE Everything from the cabinets above AND BELOW the sink REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR “sink wall” COUNTERTOP Remove everything from your dishwasher Cover the furniture in the work area Your kitchen will have limited access and there will be no running water for 7 to 10 days
