Who was Karl Marx?

Born 1818 in Germany.

After college, Marx hoped to pursue an academic career but got too heavily involved with a radical group of thinkers and had no prospect toward a job besides philosophy.

Marx was forced to turn to journalism and studied the order of social class and political issues.Slide5

What is Marxism?

Marxism is defined as the theories of Karl Marx; later serving the basis for communism.

The main point to take from this is the struggle between classes (I.e., education,

wealth,etc…).Slide6

Although there were many Marxists, in reality, three came to power:

Karl Marx – the founder

Leon Trotsky – helped lead a rebellion to overthrow StalinVladimir Lenin – helped create the Bolshevik partySlide7
