Slide1

Real or Fake?

A closer look at internet reliability.

Slide2

Not all pictures on the internet are real.

This picture of a giant wolf standing on a Jeep is fake.

How can you tell?

Look at the image. The lighting and shadows of the wolf and jeep do not match the forest background.

Do research. Wolves only grow to about 3 feet tall, the size of a large dog.

What was the intent of the picture? Did the creator want to inform you, trick you, or entertain you?

Slide3

Not all pictures on the internet are real

Make your own fake image by dragging, dropping, and resizing the clipart in the forest.

Just because it is easy to search and obtain information on Wikipedia doesn’t mean it is reliable. Most schools do not accept work that cites Wikipedia.

Not all websites are reliable.

Just like anyone can edit Wikipedia, anyone can publish a website. Websites are created to inform, entertain, promote, sell, or persuade. Click on the links below and explore the sites. Which one is for entertainment and which one is to inform? Sometimes it is difficult to determine what is real and additional research may be necessary; look up both animals in an internet search.
