As mummies were prepared, Egyptians learned a lot about the human body.

Egyptian doctors also studied diseases and created medicines to treat them.

The Egyptians made progress

in

what they knew.Slide19

Measuring time

How did the Egyptians measure time?

The Egyptians

developed the first accurate (correct) calendar.

This calendar was based on the cycles of the moon and had 360 days.

Why did they change their calendar?

The Egyptians changed their calendar because it was not accurate

enough.

They changed it according to the height of the Nile flood waters.

They invented “

Nilometers

” and this calendar had 365 days.

They even added 1 extra day every 4 years to make it accurate.Slide20
