♦Who was Abraham Lincoln?♦

Abraham Lincoln was a important man. He had a bad education , but it

did not

affect him. He became the president, and He helped abolish slavery.Slide3

♦Childhood♦

Lincoln had a hard working childhood. He was born in Kentucky in 1809. When he was 8 years old he could had an axe. He worked for his father and could make coffins, log cabins, wells, and pig pens.

♦Education♦

Abraham Lincoln did not have a good education.

Most of his education is from books or a “Blab School”. A “Blab School” is a school that all age groups are in one class.

mother died in 1818 by a disease called “Milk sickness”.

In 1819

Thomas Lincoln (Lincoln’s Dad) got married again with a women named Sara Bush. Lincoln got married in 1842.Had to sons named William and tad. Lincoln mother died in 1818 by a disease called “Milk sickness”. Slide6

♦Becoming President♦It was hard for Lincoln to become President. In the south they did not show Lincoln as a option for President. This made it hard for Lincoln to become President. In 1860 Lincoln became President.

♦Civil War♦The Civil War was more than brining the country together it was also to abolish slavery. In 1863 Lincoln presented his Gettysburg

Address. This address helped free slaves when they won the Civil War.Slide8

♦His Death♦Lincoln died in April 15, 1865.On the 14

th

of April Lincoln was assassinated in Fords Theatre Washington, DC. The assassin’s name was John Wilkes Booth.Slide11

♦Legacy♦

When he left the world in 1865 they fought for equal rights without his help, black people they would have never protest for equal rights. He inspired Martin Luther King Jr. to fight for equal rights. This Without Lincoln there would be no freedom for black people.
