Political Life

Louis is known to have over 15 mistresses throughout his reign

These mistresses exerted great control over the King

Mistresses were very domineering often choosing the minister of states

Mistresses fought constantly for power

Subjects not happy with debauchery of the court

Louis also had family that was constantly trying through intrigue to ascend to the throne

Usually referred to advisors for major decisions

War between England and France

England wins

France looses many of its colonies including New France

Conclusion

While known to be a smart cultured King, Louis really didn’t take action on many things in his life

Attempts at reform were abandoned, governance was given to advisors and mistresses

The “absence” of a ruling king was to be the beginning of the end of the Absolute Monarchy in France
