A compound subject is made up of two or more simple subjects that are joined by a conjunction and have the same verb. The diagram will have a fork in the baseline at the left (subject) side of the vertical line.. compound subjects and compound predicates . #3. Diagramming is the representation of a sentence and its parts of speech in graphical form. Where to begin. Any time you need to diagram a sentence, you always start with the basics and work your way down. The basics would include your subject, verb, and any complements that you have. Let’s just start with a simple sentence that does not have any complements. . Punctuation and Capitalization. A subject can be a noun or pronoun. The verb might be one word, two or three words.. To diagram a sentence, start with a base line. Then put a line crossing the middle of the baseline.
