General Educaon: Opon A: Area A; Opon B: Area 5A; Opon C: Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 64-72 lecture. A study of the principles of stacs of parcles and rigid bodies as applied to equilibrium problems of two and three-dimensional structures, and the principles of fricon, virtual work, and stability of equilibrium. ENGR 045 Properes of Materials 4.0 Units Prerequisite: A mi

nimum grade of C in both PHYS 006 and CHEM 001. General Educaon: Opon C: Area B1 Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 48-54 lecture, 48-54 lab. Covers the applicaon of basic principles of physics and chemistry to the structure and properes of engineering materials. Special emphasis is devoted to the relaonship between microstructure and the mechanical properes of metals, polymers and ceramics, and the electrical, magnec, and opcal properes of materials. Possible eld trips. ENGR 001 Introducon to Engineering 1.0 Unit Course Advisory: Successful compleon of ENGL 001; SCC minimum Math standard. Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 16-18 lecture. A rst, non-technical course for engineering students and students considering majoring in engineering. Introducon to dierent engineering elds, the campus life of engineering students, schedule guidelines, opportunies in engineering, engineers’ roles in society, ethics in engineering, and strategies and approaches required to survive math, science, and engineering courses. Possible eld trips. Introducon to Electrical Engineering Prerequisite: MATH 023 with a minimum grade of C (may enroll concurrently); PHYS 007 with a minimum grade of C. General Educaon: Opon C: Area B1, Area B3 Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 64-72 lecture, 48-54 lab. A study of basic circuit analysis techniques including Kirchho’s laws, mesh-current, node-voltage, Thevenin and Norton equivalent; transient and steady-state responses of passive circuits; sinusoidal steady-state analysis; power calculaons; operaonal amplier; semiconductor devices. Weekly homework assignments and wrien tests, including a comprehensive nal examinaon and lab reports, will be used to evaluate student success. (C-ID ENGR 260L) Mathemacs and Engineering Problem Solving Using Matlab Prerequisite: MATH 021 with a minimum grade of C (may enroll concurrently). Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 48-54 lecture, 48-54 lab. Covers methodologies for solving mathemathics and engineering problems. Students will learn to perform mathemacs and engineering computaon and visualizaon using the MATLAB language. Students will write a variety of programs in the MATLAB language. Same as MATH 026.
