The first musical instruments were probably for communicating or signaling.
As civilizations evolved, so did the role of music in society.
Music became an important part of work, dance, or rituals of ceremony and religion.

Music played a part in almost every aspect of life.
Musicians, many of whom were women, were revered in Egyptian culture. They were second only to royalty!
