What are the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Score Changes for 2017? The WIDA ELD Standards adopted in 2012 are not changing . The expectations for student performance on the assessment (ACCESS for ELLs 2.0) have changed. The test items are not harder, but WIDA has changed how student scores are interpreted into proficiency levels. Students must demonstrate higher language skills to achieve the same proficiency levels.

The “Sweet Spot” of English Language Proficiency The 2016 WIDA standards-setting of the adjusted score scales provides an opportunity to re-evaluate the EL “Exit” criteria (currently 5.0 Composite and 5.0 Literacy) to ensure that English learners can meet rigorous language and content standards. September 2017: ADAM and EL Team analyze the p erformance level relationship between the ACCESS 2.0 and SBAC to identify the “Sweet Spot.” Hold public input meetings to review data analysis findings with Title III Directors and other stakeholders. Make recommendations to the State Board regarding Nevada’s EL “Exit” criteria.
