of the poem
Dulce et Decorum Est
, by Wilfred Owen
is during a war as men walk away from a battle field and are caught in a gas attack.
The men in the poem are tired from fighting, “Men marched asleep” and are described as “blood shod” or worn out. They are then attacked by gas, “Gas! Gas! Quick boys – an ecstasy of fumbling!” They are clearly close to a battle field as they hear the “hoots” of shells dropping behind them.Slide7
