Why did they leave?
These states left because…
They would be a lot of money with the abolishment of slavery. Which they feared Lincoln would do.
The states that made the most money with cotton, spear headed this secession.
They believed the other states did not follow the constitution, so why should they. Slide7

The Beginning
Six days before South Carolina Seceded from Union, the Major Robert Anderson (commander from the North) moved 126 soldiers into Fort Sumter.
On January 9
th
, 1861, in an attempt to re-supply the soldiers stuck on Fort Sumter, this supply ship was suddenly attackedSlide14
Lincoln’s First Crisis
This attack prompted Lincoln into his first crises.
Lincoln notified the South Carolina Governor, saying that there will be more supply ships coming.
The South Carolina Governor, Francis W. Pickens, told Lincoln to call off the supply ships or they will be sunk.Slide15

The first bullets were fired in the civil war at 4:30 am
Twenty Four Hours Later, Major Anderson and his soldiers had to surrender. Slide16
