From the time of God’s instruction to build the ark and God sending the floodwaters was a space of about 100

years.

Genesis 5:32, 6:10 seem to indicate that Noah was 500 years old when He received the command from God to build and at 600 he boarded the ark.

Genesis 6:3 seems to indicate that from the time of God’s decision to destroy man and their destruction was a space of 120 years.

Noah could have lost heart because of the sheer size of the ark, he could’ve become disillusioned because of the 100 years between the command and the flood, he could’ve become discouraged because after 100 years of preaching he had no converts, but Noah by faith continued to obey!
