The coastline of Georgia is almost 110 miles long. The Coastal Plain is part of a low land that extends around the coast of the eastern United States from New York to Texas. In Georgia, a chain of low islands called the Sea Islands lies just off the mainland.. Want?:. Strategies . for Developing Responsive Proposals to Government Solicitations. . 2014 . Objectives. To better understand variability in eastern upwelling regions and the Gulf of Guinea. To enhance climate modelling and prediction capabilities. Improve understanding of marine ecosystems for better prediction and management. HOW DO OCEAN GLIDERS WORK? Ocean gliders sink and “glide” downward from the sea surface – when its computer triggers a piston that draws in some seawater and therefore extra weight. Near the bottom, a reverse action causes the glider to rise and “glide” upward towards the surface. As the glider saw-tooths its way through the ocean it measures ocean properties (e.g., temperature) . Every few hours, the glider pauses at the surface and transmits its data via satellite back to the laboratory – thus providing us with a Conclusions Up Front:. Mid-Atlantic is home to the most advanced observing systems in the world. Much can be leveraged to support the Blue Ocean Economy. Well defined process to fill gaps. Greatest need is not for new technologies .
