Prefix – believe – dis believe Suffix – believe – believ Find a vowel: Write out all your spelling words and highlight the vowels in each word. Jump High: Say your words out loud while jumping rope . Noisy Animal: Can you think of any animals in nature that make a noise in any of your spelling words? Eg. Hoop – an owl says “Hooo!” Puzzling Times: Create word puzzles in your book. You may like to design them on a separate piece of paper and cut them out and glue it in your book. Can you guess? Describe your spelling words in your book. Use your imagination. Eg: February = second month, shortest month of the year. Memory Challenge: Ask a parent or sibling to test you on your spelling words and see how many you remember. **Remember to write the m down and give yourself a score** Sing your heart out: Sing your spelling words to the tune of your favourite song /nasheed . Alphabet Soup: Write each of your spelling words out in alphabetical order . Line ‘ em up: Write all your spelling words out in one long row, and circle any other words you can find. happypartypopsicle Show me a word: Dance out the meaning of the words . Stick in the sand: Use a stick to write your spelling words outside in the sand . Construct a word: Cu t out the letters that represent the sound of this week’s spelling spelling words in different colours. ** Remember no textas allowed ** A little drama: Write a short story and try and include as many spelling words as you can. Make our story as crazy as can be. Make a list: Design a table and place your spelling words in the following columns: Interesting Words Silly Words Boring Words Singing my song: Make up a song using all your spelling words and write it in your homework book. Word search Wizard: Create a big word search containing all your spelling words Sound it out : Write out all your words and count the number of sounds in it. Be sure to highlight the sound of the week. Fri d ay – 5 sounds Write on my back: Using your finger write each of your spelling words on a friend’s, parents or siblings back. See if they can guess which word you are writing. Form a word: Look outside at nature to find things that form the letters of the week’s spelling words and draw them in your book. ( i.e. the branches, clouds, playground ) Artistic Flair: Draw pictures of each of your spelling words. Make sure you colour them in nicely . ** Don’t forget to write the word u nder the picture** Make a game of it: Make up a crossword puzzle , word search or any game to help you learn your spelling words. Look over a ll your spelling words and see how many are:  Nouns  Verbs  Adjectives  Personal pronouns *Draw a table and place them in the correct column* Click Clack: Tap out the syllables of your spelling words u sing your hands, finger, feet or whole body. Times tables Activities Angry Arrays Write out your times tables 3 times. Once you have completed, choose one of the times tables and draw the arrays. Eg: 5 x 4 = 20 OOOO OOOO OOOO OOOO OOOO Manic Multiples Write out all the multiples for the times tables. Write multiples up to 100. 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16… Crazy Colours Write out your times tables 4 times and write it in different colours . Opposite Day Write the division facts for the times tables given 3 times . Eg: 8 ÷ 4 = 2 Words, words, words Write 1 set of times tables in words and the other set in numbers 3 times . 2 x 1 = 2 four x one = four 2 x 2 = 4 four x two = eight Fun Factors Write out the factors for the numbers your teacher will provide you with. What is a factor? Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number. Eg: 2 and 3 are factors of 6, because 2 × 3 = 6. Eg: What are the factors of 12? 3 and 4 are factors of 12, because 3 × 4 = 12. Also 2 × 6 = 12 so 2 and 6 are also factors of 12. And 1 × 12 = 12 so 1 and 12 are factors of 12 as well. So 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 are all factors of 12. Memory Magic Write your times tables in their rows on Monday and Tuesday . Ask a parent, friend or sibling to then test you your times tables on Wednesday and Thursday . See how many questions you can answer correctly. Do not forget to write your answers in your book. Mark it and see how many you got wrong. Try and beat your sco re on Thursday.
