Impact
Celebrating Alex’s Impact
Alex’s guidance was
instrumental
in formation of CHREC
Alex’s vision in formative years of CHREC made this research
possible
Without Alex, this Center and mission would
never have happened
!
CHREC Space Processor (CSP) on International Space Station (2/23/17 to present)
Background
:
On-board computing is principal challenge for future spacecraft in sensor processing and autonomous control
Challenge:
Harsh environment and severe resource constraints
Mission:
Using two CSP computers, perform studies on resilient, parallel, and reconfigurable computing in orbit
Theme:
New concepts and technologies in hybrid space computing combining high performance and reliability with low size, weight, power and cost
