i.e.

a fixed time or season; specifically, a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed beforehand):--appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, (set) time (appointed).

Slide5

God’s calendar is based on both the sun and the moon so that His appointed times or divine appointments would fall at the same time each year and coincide with the harvests of barley, wheat ,and the grapes and the olives. In order for this to work out a leap month is added

7

times in 19 years.God’s Calendar

Slide6

It is believed in the Hebrew oral tradition that Adam was created on the first day of Tishri. (Sept./Oct.)

Originally this was the first month on God’s Calendar.

We see from Genesis 1 that God’s days start at evening(twilight).God calls them the first day, the second day, the first month, the second month, etc.In The Beginning

Slide7

Genesis 8:4 King James Version (KJV)

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. At this time the seventh month would have been Nissan (Nisan, Abib) (Mar./April)In Noah’s Time

Slide8

Exodus 12:1-2

Amplified

Bible (AMP)12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,2 This month shall be to you the beginning of months, the first month of the year to you.(Ex .13: 3-4, Identifies the month of Abib)Now.. the month of Nissan (Nissan, Abib) is the first monthNissan is the first month of the sacred year.

Nissan 1 is called Rosh Chodesh Nissan

At the Time of the Exodus

Slide9

Tishri is now the 7

th

month of the sacred year, but it is still the first month in the civil year. The first of Tishri is today called Rosh Ha Shana or Head of the year (Jewish New Year)God’s 7 appointed dates all fall within the first 7 months of His sacred year.We are going to take a close look at the first 3.

The Civil Year

Slide10

Leviticus 23:1-2

Amplified

Bible (AMP)23 The Lord said to Moses,2 Say to the Israelites, The set feasts or appointed seasons of the Lord which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, even My set feasts, are these:We already established that season = an appointed time or a fixed time

The Feasts of Jehovah

Slide11

You probably already know that the feasts of Passover, Unleavened bread , and

F

irstfruits commemorate the release of Israel from the bondage of Egypt by God’s hand. But did you know that they were also prophetic?

Slide12

Result

of search for "convocation":4744

miqra' mik-raw' from 7121; something called out, i.e. a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal:--assembly, calling, convocation, reading.

Convocation

Slide13

“ Tell all of Israel and say to them concerning the divinely appointed times of the Lord, which you will call out as holy dress rehearsals even these are the circled dates on My calendar.

Lev. 23:1-2

How we would say it today

Slide14

Leviticus 23:4-5 New International version

‘“These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times: 5 the Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Exodus 12:3-5

New

International Version 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family…5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect…6

And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall [each] kill [his] lamb in the evening.

Slide16

Notice the Israelites were to take their lamb on the 10

th

day of the month of Nissan and keep it until the 14th day of the month. This was to observe the lambs and make certain they contained no defect or blemish.Do you know what event took place on the 10th day of the month of Nissan?

15

No, nor indeed did Herod, for he sent Him back to us; behold, He has done nothing deserving of death.Jesus was observed for four days and found to be without fault.

Slide25

F

rom the Mount of Olives ,they go to Gethsemane, where Jesus is later betrayed and arrested and His suffering for us begins.

Mark 15:21-25 King James Version (KJV)21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.2 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

23

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it

not.

24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

Slide26

The people are now singing….

33

But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water……36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled,

A bone of him shall not be broken.

37

And again another scripture

saith

, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Fulfilled Exactly

Slide29

Now all of the people are singing….

achieves strength! The Hallel

At twilight on Nissan 15- Just after the Lord Jesus is buried, the feast of unleavened bread starts . It is to be kept for 7 days. It commemorates the children of Israel leaving Egypt in haste.

Slide34

Do you know what month it was when Jesus cleared the temple?

John

2:13-15 American Standard Version (ASV)13 And the passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.14 And he found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:15 and he made a scourge of cords, and cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their tables;

Jesus runs the money changers out of the temple

)

before Jehovah, to be accepted for you:

on the morrow after the

sabbath the priest shall wave it.Firstfruits

Slide36

Matthew 28:1

28  Now late on the sabbath day, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.1 Corinthians 15:20 American Standard Version

20

But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the

firstfruits

of them that are asleep. The Morrow after the Sabbath

Slide37

Slide38

Psalm 126:6

American

Standard Version (ASV)6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves with him.A sheaf was made with more than just one stalk.Sheaf noun

\ˈshēf\

: a bunch

of stalks and ears of grain that are tied together after being cut: a group of things fastened together

Was This Really Fulfilled Exactly?

Slide39

Matthew 27:52-53

Amplified

Bible (AMP)52 The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep [a]in death were raised [to life];53 And coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

Fulfilled Exactly !!!!

Slide40

The first and best sheaf of barley was harvested and brought to the temple as a thanksgiving offering to the Lord of the Harvest. It was representative of the whole harvest serving as a pledge that the rest of the harvest would be realized!

We too shall rise!!!

Praise Be to God !

Slide41

1 Corinthians

15:20-24

Amplified Bible (AMP)20 But the fact is that Christ (the Messiah) has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death].21 For since [it was] through a man that death [came into the world, it is] also through a Man that the resurrection of the dead [has come].22 For just as [because of their [a

]

union of nature] in Adam all people die, so also [by virtue of their

[

b]union of nature] shall all in Christ be made alive.23 But each in his own rank and turn: Christ (the Messiah) [is] the firstfruits, then those who are Christ’s [own will be resurrected] at His coming.

24

After that comes the end (the completion), when He delivers over the kingdom to God the Father after rendering inoperative

and

abolishing every [other] rule and every authority and power.

A promise to the body of Christ

Slide42

Colossians 2:16-17

New

Living Translation 16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.

Do We Need to Keep the Feasts?
