Any time you need to diagram a sentence, you always start with the basics and work your way down. The basics would include your subject, verb, and any complements that you have. Let’s just start with a simple sentence that does not have any complements. . ANALYZING ARGUMENTS. Arguments can be analyzed, once recognized, by paraphrasing them or by . diagramming them. . . Paraphrasing . involves setting forth the argument in a clear and precise form. . Excercises. Every sentence must have a S (subject) and a V (verb). A subject can be a noun or pronoun. The verb might be one word, two or three words.. To diagram a sentence, start with a base line. Then put a line crossing the middle of the baseline.
