#1 Cover Page

Use supplies provided or any you have of your own to decorate the cover of your SMASH Book.

It should represent you and your style point of view. Make sure it has your name on itSlide5

Use words and pictures to describe your style and or fashion inspiration.

This assignment will be on the inner cover of your smash book. Slide6

#4 Practice Fashion Sketches

Throughout the semester you will be designing lots of outfits. So now is the time to have fun and practice.

Create @ least 3 sketches, color them (colored pencils please) and put them in your SMASH Book. Final sketches must

be outlined in black ink

Sketch the outfit you are wearing today.

Write a paragraph describing each element of the outfit and why you like it.

You are also going to be creating a signature that you will put on each page here on out. Slide9

Using the magazines, create a collage that shows examples of each the following fashion terms that we covered today in class:

For each time period you will be creating a cheat sheet in Google drawings. Each sheet will include key terms, styles, and clothing specific for that time period, as well as an explanation of the time using each word represented in picture.

Each decade will receive one page in your smash book. Slide13

#9 Fairytale Redo

Pick one of you favorite fairytale characters. Recreate

that character’s outfit into a different time period.

Write next to your sketch the

name of the character and the time period you transposed the outfit to. Write a brief explanation of why you chose what you chose. Slide14

#9 Design for your favorite designer

Create a look that could be in the collection of one of the designers we have been studying.

Label your sketch with the designer you chose and a brief description of why your sketch would fit into their collection.

#10 Color Wheel

Paint the color wheel provided in the proper order.

You must include the actual color along with the tint and the shade.

Place the tint toward the center and the shade on the outside.

Cut out and glue into your smashbook.

#11 Color Value Sketch

Design a garment of your choice. Instead of coloring with colored pencils, you will be painting it.

Choose one color and paint your outfit using tints, tones, and shades of that color only.

Put into your SMASH Book and write a short paragraph about your garment. Include design details and also information about the color you used. Use and underline vocabulary words. (

Using

create and outfit set representing 3 of the color schemes that were discussed in class.

Send each set to your email and print them off.

Find one example of each of the types of

line directions:

horizontal, vertical, and diagonal in the fashion magazines.

Label each and glue into Smash Book. Slide20

#14 T-Shirt LIne

You

are going to be designing a line of t-shirts (4). Each t shirt needs to be based upon one of the types of patterns we just

discussed

(geometric, conventional, abstract, naturalistic)

Use the template I have given you and paste each shirt in your book when you are finished.

Make sure you label each t-shirt with which pattern it is representing.

Now that you’ve learned about your season and your body type, design a head to toe look for you.

Once your sketch is complete and colored, explain why you chose the colors and silhouettes that you did.

Find your picture

Red Carpet Search

Images

Pick something easy to divide into a 1:3, 2:3, 3:5 ratio.

Copy & paste into power point.

Adjust pic so it is about this size.

Add a rectangle around the design.

Format shape (right click) to make the fill (no fill) and the line color something easy to see.

Draw in straight lines that divide the design. Make sure the lines are in a color that is easy to see.

Now add the numbers. Again, adjust the color so it is visual.

Group the picture parts together- select all, right click, group.

Now print. This does NOT need to be in color if the picture/dividing is easy to see.Slide23

#16 Balance

Find an example of each type of balance on the internet. Print and paste each picture into your smash book and label each. Slide24

#17 Emphasis

Draw a garment that places emphasis on some part of the body.

Write a description of your outfit that includes where you placed the emphasis and what it is emphasizing. Underline vocabulary words. Slide25

#18 Rhythm

Create an outfit that includes at least three types of rhythm.

Write a description of the outfit. Include which types of rhythm you used and where they can be found. Underline the vocabulary words. Slide26

#19 Harmony

Create a garment that is harmonious. (includes unity and variety)

Write a description of the garment that includes how the harmony was made. What unites it? What gives variety?Slide27

#20 Natural Fiber

Create the foldable following your teacher’s directions.

Place the natural fibers title on the front and label each tab with one natural fiber.

Write your notes about each fiber on the corresponding page.Slide28

#21 Synthetic Fiber

Create the foldable following your teacher’s directions.

Place the Synthetic Fibers title on the front.

On the inside write each fiber and the notes in one of the six squares.Slide29

#22 Paper Weaves

You will need 18 strips each of two different colors.

Create the following weaves, place in your SMASH Book and label each one:

Plain (over 1, under 1)

Twill (over 2, under 2)

Satin (over 4, under 1)

#23 Fabric Clothing Sketch

Design a garment using fabric.

Write a short paragraph describing the garment.

Include information about the fabric. Is it knitted or woven? If woven, what type of weave was used? Slide31

Design a line of 4 fabrics. All fabric designs should be cohesive in color or concept.

Once completed, they will fold their design along the solid black lines with the title on the front. Glue in

#25 Cost Per Wear

Sketch the outfit you are wearing right now. Include all shoes and accessories in your sketch.

Put in SMASH Book along with the title provided.

Write how much each item cost and where it was purchased.

Include a grand total of what your outfit

Create a name for your

“fashion business

Develop a memorable logo that has meaning to you and will represent your brand

Glue your Logo in your smash book. Slide34

#27 Hangtag

Find an article of clothing in a magazine that you believe could fit into the company you have designed and cut it out.

Create a hang tag for this article of clothing.

Your

hangtag must include

Personal Logo

Brand Name

Material Makeup (100% cotton, etc.)

Advertising

Mount your hangtag along with your picture/description of your garment

#28 Yin & Yang Collage

Draw the Yin and Yang Symbol in your smash book. Find 5 pictures that would go well in each category and place them on the appropriate side. Slide36

Design your Wardrobe

Your assignment is to create 2 head to toe looks for each season of the year (spring, fall, summer winter)

Consider your body type and color season when designing.

Print each look and glue into your smash book.
