The God Who PrayedSlide2

Jesus is God’s Explanation of Himself to Man

Jesus is “God with us” (Matthew 1:23)

He declared God to us (John 1, 14, 18)

Although in the form of God, He emptied Himself (Philippians 2:5-8; Mark 10:45)Slide3

Jesus is the God who Prayed

Although fully aware of His identity as God, Jesus prayed (John 17:4-5)

Jesus’ relationship with the Father resulted in devotion to prayer (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16; 6:12-13; Matthew 14:23)

Confidence in the relationship produced confidence in prayer (John 11:41-42; 12:27-32; 1 John 3:22)

In the Garden, God in the form of man learned obedience (Luke 22:41-44; Hebrews 5:7-8)Slide4

The God who Prayed has shown us that prayer…

Flows from our relationship with God.

Reflects our trust in and dependence on God.

“And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘Father, Into Your hands I commit my spirit.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.” (Luke 23:46)
