London The Shard is a skyscraper of offices and luxury housing in the borough of Southwark on the south bank of the Thames It opened on 5 July 2012 The Shard was the name given to the tower following the criticism it had wiped from English Heritage who said that the building would be a shard of glass piercing the heart of old London
