Jaywalker U Expectations 1. Mood or mind altering chemicals or behaviors , including non - alcoholic beverages are not permitted at Jaywalker U . Any prescribed medication will be turned into Jaywalker Lodge’s Unit Office and any surgery requiring pain medications will be disclosed to Jaywalker U staff. 2. Jaywalker U students are expected to become engaged in the local recovery community by attending a minimum of three 12 - step meetings weekly , having a home group, and working regularly with a sponsor. JWU students are expected to be of service in the recovery community by chairing meetings, making coffee, being a greeter, and being a sponsor. 3. Jaywalk er U students will submit to UAs randomly as requested by Director, Coordinator or the Resident Assistant. 4. Jaywalker U and its student community adhere to the Colorado Mountain College Academic Honesty Policy (please refer to CMC Student Handbook). 5. Jaywalk er U students are expected to be on time, maintain a calendar for organization, attend and participate in all classes, meet in person with instructors , and prepare for and attend all school meetings . 6. Jaywalker U students are expected to maintain their own personal hygiene and a clean living environment ; this includes washing dishes at the time they are used, vacuuming, doing laundry , making beds (by 10am) ; and other chores as needed . 7. Regardless of class schedule, all Jaywalker U students are required to be up and out of bed by 9:00am daily except on Saturdays and Sundays. 8. All forms of pornography, including online sites, and/ or men’s magaz ines such as Maxim, FHM, Playboy, etc. are prohibited at Jaywalker U . 9. V iolent behavior, including threats, will not be t olerated at Jaywalker U. This includes any form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse of peers, staff, faculty, or members of the Carbondale or collegiate communities. 10. Candles or flammable materials are not permitted at Jaywalker U . Tampering with or d isabling fire alarms or smoke detectors may result in immediate discharge from the program . 11. T obacco products of any kind are not permitted inside the facility , the front of the facility, and the kitchen deck at Jaywalker U. There is a designated area for u se of tobacco products behind the Dotson Building at Jaywalker U. 2 of 2 12. Jaywalker U students will notify staff 10 days in advance of any anticipated absences by completing a Leave of Absence (LOA) form and submitting it to the Coordinator; students must t hen adhere to the plan as specifically outlined in the LOA. 13. Jaywalker U students must adhere to a curfew of 12 :00pm Sunday through Thursdays and 1:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Students sleep in their beds e ach night; Jaywalker staff has unrestricted acc ess to apartments for the purpose of support and safety. 14. Students at Jaywalker U eat healthy, and will take responsibility for both the grocery shopping and the cooking. Food is not permitted anywhere except in the kitchen and dining areas. 15. Female guests are not permitted in any area of the Jaywalker U residence except the classroom. 16. G ambling , borrowing or loaning of money is not permitted; staff will not assume responsibility for student debts. 17. Jaywalker U students, as a peer group, are res ponsible for planning program outings and expeditions during school semesters, with the direction of JWU staff. Staff will plan orientation and spring break trips . 18. Students agree to participate in all JWU workshops , JWU activities and JWU classes. 19. All animals, rodents, reptiles, fish and/or insects are prohibited. 20. Jaywalker U students agree to p articipate in local sports leagues and be a part of Jaywalker sports teams . 21. By adhering to the above expectations, students make a daily decision to stay in reco very, and to participate fully in the Jaywalker U program. By not adhering to these expectations, I understand that the staff may i nterpret my actions as a decision to either leave or be discharged from the Jaywalker U program.
