Vocabulary Week 12 Root: fer Meaning: carry/bring Referral Fertile Problem Solve Ferry Transfer Circumference Conference Differ Elaborate Collaborate

1. Ferry (v) Transport from one place to another on short or regular trips. The boat will ferry us across the water so we can escape this dreadful island.

2. Circumference (n) The distance around something circular/round. Jenny needed to measure the circumference of her babies’ heads so she could make them hats.

3. Conference (n) A formal meeting for discussion. Following Thursday's early dismissal, I will have a conference with your parents to discuss how you are doing.

4. Differ (v) To be unlike or dissimilar. Their looks differ immensely, he is short and she is a giant.

5. Fertile (adj) Producing or capable of producing a lot of vegetation or crops. This land is so fertile , we will be eating nothing but vegetables for the next six months.

6. Referral (n) An act of suggesting someone or something for further action. The doctor gave me a referral to see a foot specialist because it is extremely painful when I walk.

7. Transfer (v) Move from one place to another. I will transfer this week’s paycheck into my savings account and start to save away for a new convertible.

8. Coffer (n) Chest for carrying money or valuables When I went on vacation I put my jewelry and checkbook in the coffer at my house in case of burglary.
