Laptops

You must give me your assigned laptop number and you are responsible for that laptop

Students are not allowed to get the computers from another classroom as they choose. Students cannot all rush to the carts. The carts will be brought into the classroom first by two students and students will get their computers in groups

Programs will be on task. Games are

never

allowed during class time. If your work is finished, you may write on your blog or choose from the websites presented on the Grade 7 website. No exceptions. You signed the technology policy at

Pleasantdale

.

Always five minutes before class ends, I will stand beside the cart to put them away

You will plug them in and treat them with respect

Consequences: Computer privileges will be removed. Notes will be taken by hand and research will be done by books until responsible choices and behaviour is shown.Slide3

Surprise!

or constituency.

Temporary employment for politiciansNo elected person in Canada really has a fixed term of office

General elections are every 4 years

Fresh elections can be called at anytime

A vote of confidence can be made to kick someone out

He is not in trouble, he is voting in the election.Slide22

Members of Parliament (MP) are broken into parties according to their beliefsSlide23

Parties have different beliefs so they tend to disagree. This is important for democracy in Canada, why?Slide24

Party Leaders are chosen by Members of parliament (MP). if their party wins, they become prime minister. It is not like the united states where the people vote for a president.Slide25

Some Members of Parliament (MP) are Cabinet Ministers

13-40 cabinet members

“Popular group” of the government party that sits at the front surrounding the Prime Minister

They still represent their riding but also have a

role of cabinet minister

of either environment, finance, national defense, health. They are responsible for these departments and are blamed if people or events in these departments make errors

If you are not a cabinet member, you can be either minister of state (who is an assistant to the cabinet minister) or a backbencher (they just represent their riding)

They sit in the front with the Prime Minister!Slide26

oNE Member of Parliament (MP) GETs TO BE THE SPEAKER

Honourable

Andrew

Scheer

, MP for Regina, is the current Speaker of the House

.

He is nominated and voted by the other MPs to act as the referee.

He’s a Conservative party member

In recent years, the Senate has come to

help increase

representation of groups often underrepresented in Parliament, such as Aboriginal peoples, visible minorities and women. The Senate was also intended to provide Parliament with

a second chance to consider bills

before they are passed. Senators may pass bills, propose amendments to them or vote to defeat them.
