Club Philosophy This is an experience for both the Parents and the child. "Teaching Players Life Long Lessons Through Soccer" Competitive while keeping it fun, is the essence of our teaching methodology. No matter what the age or ability level of a player, competitiveness, fun, and excitement combined with learning produces the optimal results. Challenging training is the most important element to the Bayside philosophy. Every player wants to succeed, and we want everyone we work with to succeed. Repetition is the key to skill development. Simply, the more touches on the ball a player is given the quicker that player's progress and growth. The Game is an important element in our program. We consider playing the game to be the best teacher.

Parent Expectations Pick up and drop off players at practice/games on time.Pay team dues on time. No coaching from the sidelines. This confuses the players when they are being told one thing from a parent and another from their coach. Let the coach coach !Only be encouraging and positive. Be respectful of your team and the opposing team. You WILL get bad referees and bad calls. Expect it. They are doing their best. There is a significant shortage of referees in the area. Abuse from Parents is the main cause of this.Remember – When you ask most kids what they want their parents to yell during the game it’s almost always “nothing”.

How do we define Success? Is it the Shiny $3 dollar medal? Is it wins over losses?Success should be defined by the growth and development of a player and a team, which doesn’t necessarily translate to wins.We can all agree that there are all levels of skill on various teams. From Rec up to ECNL or further. You can pick a schedule that generates a great number of wins, but does that mean your team is the best ever? Is that placing them in a situation where they are challenged to become better.A Team and Players do need wins to build confidence but they also need the challenges of competition. Blow-Out wins does not help your team or player become better. A coach has to balance, success with challenge, with the schedule they set. Gold vs Silver vs bronze. Sometimes a team that is experiencing losses is in a stage of development. They need to be given that time to develop and grow to that level of play. (Example 06 Boys).

Playing Time We are a competitive soccer club where playing time is earned……..with that being said all players need playing time to develop. Coaches were given the ability to select their teams at tryouts with the expectation that if you take the player they must play.To set expectations we have set the following standards to follow:U9-U12 – Approximately 50% throughout the season. Poor attitude and effort could effect playing time.U13-U18 – Approximately 30% throughout the season. Poor attitude and effort could effect playing time.I want to stress “throughout the season”. This policy is not meant for each and every game, but an overall for the season. Coaches have to manage this and pick their moments to ensure they meet this expectation.

Finances 2017-2018, our annual budget was a little over 245k.118K in revenue from club dues100K in revenue from our tournament27k in revenue from other activities97k in expenses to pay coaches salaries70k in expenses for Gulf Coast Invitational10k in expense for field space7k for FYSA/US Club Affiliation 9k in event expense (Summer Camp, 5K, FutGolf)8k in Coaching Development and EquipmentWe finished the year adding 25k to our reserves which currently stands around 110K

FeesClub Dues are paid to the club to cover all club related expenses like coaching salaries. An upfront registration fee is collected and then the balance of the dues are spread out over 10 months (Aug – May).High School teams we collect an upfront and then collect everything in Aug, Sept & Oct.Setting Club Dues – We target a budget with about 5% over our expenses to cover the unexpected. We also look at the other soccer clubs in the area to get a feel for where we line up as to the cost. Currently we are more expensive than Navarre and the Breakers, we are in line with Perdido and we are cheaper than the Texans.Team Dues are controlled by each team and are 100% separate from the Club Financials. Each team manager is responsible for the collection, spending and accountability of the team finances which is primarily used to pay for tournaments and coach travel pay.How are schedules set? General guidance from the DOC with some events being heavily recommended. The coach then develops the schedule and discusses with the team manager to ensure it meets the parents expectations. Travel or not to travel? Team manager should through conversations with parents have a feel for what the team is comfortable with.
