SangWoong Lee For concentration camps specify the type This camp is extermination camp The location of Chelmno camp The village of Chelmno is situated 14 km from the town of Kolo. Horrible Holocaust . Dr. Joesef was the lead scientist at Auschwitz. Before the war he was on the staff of the Nazi-founded Institute for Hereditary Biology and Race Research. He was also said to be very handsome and was named the “Beautiful Devil” and “Angle of Death”. In his career he brought fear to women the most making them strip them and whip them. He would also often go to the infirmary looking for new victims which where mostly women looking for medical help. Out of all the subjects he found twins the most fascinating so they went to him instead of being gassed. All of his “research” was supposable for learning the mysteries of there birth for the sake of the third Reich. . By: . Jonathan. . G. Bergen – Belsen . Bergen – Belsen is located in Lower Saxony, Germany. It was established in 1943 and was meant to hold people designated for foreign exchange with German Nationals. In March 1944 it went from a detention camp to a concentration camp. The first people who were brought there were classified as “unfit for work.” They were put into a section f the camp with terrible living conditions. In August 1944 a new section was added to house women , but there was no water or facilities. On December 2, 1944 Joesph Kramer took over the camp and the first thing he did was make it an official camp. From January to mid April of 1945, 35,000 people had died or were killed. On April 15, 1945 Bergen – Belsen was liberated by the British Army.. By: Zach . N.. Bell: 3B. Auschwitz-. B. irkeneau. Auschwitz was the largest and most organized of all concentration/death camps. It was located in Oswiecim, a Polish town, more or less in the middle of Europe. It consisted of three main sections: Auschwitz I (concentration camp), Auschwitz II/ Birkeneau (killing center), and Auschwitz III (slave labor complex). The concentration camp portion was opened in June, 1940, and the other portions were opened later. From 1942 onward, Jews from all over Europe were sent to Auschwitz II by the thousands to be killed by the gas chambers. The Nazis used Zyklon B in the chambers and could kill 2,000 to 2,500 people at a time. To dispose the bodies faster, the Nazis built crematoria to burn the bodies in Auschwitz II. Auschwitz was also used to conduct medical experiments, which were performed by Dr. Josef Mengele. On January 27, 1945, Soviet forces finally reached Auschwitz, liberating all the surviving prisoners there, but found blown up crematoria, blown up gas chambers, and almost all the prisoners dead. In all 1.1 million people died at Auschwitz, 90% of them being Jewish. .
