Welcome to Third Grade What to expect in Ms. E’s class

Ms. E’s Class Please DO 1.Keep a clean desk, clean your mess, and throw food away.2. Remain in your seat when a teacher is talking, whatever it is you need to do, it can wait!3. Respect everyone around you and wait your turn to speak. You can talk to your friend when it’s appropriate.4. Try to be a good listener and actively listen when directions are given.5. Remember that you are one of many in this class andbe patient when we are helping others.6. Remember that you are here to learn and I am here to help you become a better student.

Just a few more DO’s 7. We are all friends and as friends let us be kind to one another. 8. I can’t be with you all the time, please make good decisions even when I am not watching.9. We should respect the property of the school and other students. Do not touch or disturb anything that isn’t yours.10. Please keep all important and precious belongings at home as well as anything that may distract you from your job as a student.

Morning Routine Unpack your backpack every morning and check your folder for notes and lunch money. Please put your snack in your desk. Put your home folder in your cubby.Work quietly as we wait for everyone to arrive.Use the restroom before the announcements if you need to.When morning work is done, complete work in your unfinished work folder or read quietly. If work is finished, this is a good time to go to library.

Homework and Reading Log Homework will be in your cubby on Monday when you pack up. Please return the packet on Friday. Homework is checked for completion and will help you to practice Reading log is required and you should be reading at home. Three entries are required every week for at least 20 minutes each night.Your agenda should be written in daily and signed every night by a parent. On Fridays, I check for homework, reading log, and agendas. Those students that are prepared will get a treat.

Behavior Log A checklist for both the work study habits and responsibilities expected for all third grade students will be placed on the back of the Home/School communication folder. We use this behavior checklist for a 9 week period and will initial on Fridays. Parents should review and sign weekly. This log will be used to determine order of sign up for reward movies at end of each 9 weeks.Remember be the best you can be!!!

BONES We love to catch students going above and beyond! You can earn a bone for outstanding work or behavior. If you earn 5 bones, you can trade them in for a treat from the treat box after recess. If you earn 10 bones, you can earn homework passes, lunch with a student from another class or teacher, or extra recess time. Keep up the good work to earn some bones!

Packing Up D aily When you pack-up each day please remember to: Copy agenda Empty cubby and check for loose papers or PTA handouts .Put all papers neatly in home folder.Make sure your area is clean and all food is thrown away.Leave your desk and floor neat.I hate bugs and a neat classroom will keep them to a minimum. Thanks so much!!!!

Lunch and Hallway Lunch is a time to visit with your friends. Please think about meals you have had at restaurants and remember how to conduct yourself when you are eating out. Use manners and inside voices. Remain seated, refrain from playing with food, or silly behaviors. Enjoy your time to talk with your friends and relax!I am not at the lunch table so make good choices. Also, we line up quietly and proceed single file with voices off in the hallways.Others are working and we should be respectful of them as we move inside the building. Please always walk in the building. The floors are not designed for running and you could easily slip and hurt yourself. Safety first!!!

Recess We all love recess and want to have fun. Please remember to use playground rules for equipment and play. Third-graders are asked to stay on track or field and not enter woods where we can’t see you. Please refrain from throwing rocks or sand. Safety is important on the playground so we can all enjoy our free time. Please include all your friends to play!

Dismissal Please turn in all your dismissal notes in the morning. You must have a note to change your dismissal in order to keep you safe. Please walk calmly to the cafeteria or the bus door after you are dismissed.
