slide1. Blue Jay Juniors:Program Vision & FutureSpring 2026 Season Parent Meeting
November 17th, 2025
slide2. History of Blue Jay Juniors Formerly - Junior Olympics (JO) in past 90’s-00’s
Traveled
Feeder program for Blue Jays
Note: Boosters & Juniors were 2 separate groups in past
Blue Jay Junior Program is now overseen by Jamestown Volleyball Boosters since 2021
Recent history/Directors:
Past Director - Jada Anderson (Meiklejohn) ~2011-2016
NCR membership
Sara Hegerle – directed from 2016-2024
NCR membership from 2016-2020
COVID year (2020)– membership was not continued
Frustrations due to NCR not returning money in early 2020 season that wasn’t played, and delay of desire to travel- Junior program decided to step away and keep it more local
Eddy Delzer- directed spring 2025-resigned October 2025
slide3. Blue Jay Junior History: 2025 was a transition year
Post Season: some changes we wanted to keep, and some that were to be changed for this coming season
Coaches & parents feedback taken and gave us format for 2026
Sudden Resignation of Director in October was a surprise
Due to VB Board organization and previous planning,
We had opened registration in Oct/Nov and program is on track for 2026 like we had planned.
Misinformation going around, so we wanted this meeting to clear things up!
slide4. Blue Jay Juniors Announcement~ Blue Jay Junior Program: NCR Membership Complete!
NCR affiliation program benefits:
Competitive Tournaments
Calibration for Coaches and Players
Additional training resources for coaches and players
Fees had increased slightly in preparation for this increase
Extra expenses in future but Board keeping costs down as much as possible this year
There is an additional $65 fee each player will have to pay directly to NCR. The Board will provide the information/link to everyone.
slide5. Direction/Director position: Jamestown Volleyball Booster Board currently leads program at this point in the season.
VB Board active in last year’s season & continues to be active/organized for upcoming season
We thank Sara Hegerle for her help!
She’s an immense asset to the Board, as we navigate joining the NCR/Tournaments/finding coaches and helping to keep the program running efficiently while we wait for the next Director to be a good fit
Thank you for helping with the 2 original dates (Oct 26 & Nov 2) scheduled for tryouts, but with the resignation of the director, we were able to turn those into UJ Head Coach Jon Hegerle led skills camp days at no extra cost!
Director
Search is ongoing and active; please continue to give names and resumes to Board
slide6. Moving Forward 2026 season Blue Jay Juniors’ Vision: Assessments and skill evaluations
Working on upcoming dates to be completed by independent parties not affiliated with the program or JHS program.
Team placement based on evaluation results.
Registration typically began in late January-February (we are WAY ahead this year).
Rough estimate of Tournament dates: March-May “To develop well-rounded athletes through teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition—helping every player build confidence, improve their skills, and share in the Blue Jay Volleyball spirit.”
slide7. Blue Jay Junior Teams and Coaching Structure Divisions: 10s,12s, 14s, 16s, 18s
12-18s use skill assessments to be used for team set ups
Maximum players for 10s/12s will be 8-10 players per team, 14s-18s will be 10-12 players. Need to consider schedules and commitments for multi-sport athletes.
Goals: Hire a Lead Coach for each age division
Confirmed Leads: 10s- Jada Anderson, 12s- Sara Hegerle, 14s- , 16s-Gracie Adamson, 18s-Gabby Nordacker,
plus 3–4 assistant coaches for the individual teams.
This keeps ability for consistent attendance at practice and tournament dates not to be affected
Gym space limited – working on keeping age groups together, while also giving individual teams practices together
Preference: No parent lead coaches.
Parent assistant coaches may be considered, if necessary, given our small community.
High school assistant coaches for younger ages may be utilized also if needed for numbers
Coaches- Paid positions and time commitment to NCR training
*more to come
slide8. We are seeking applications and resumes for coaches for the upcoming season! Even if you have already spoken with Sara or a Board member, please still submit a short resume. This will help us coordinate teams, schedules, and registration details efficiently as we prepare for the season ahead. Resumes and inquiries can be sent to jamestownvolleyball@gmail.com by December 1st, 2025.
slide10. Area Tournaments/ Potential Dates SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Travel but still stay within North Dakota/South Dakota/Western Minnesota.
Less Minot.
NCR membership will allow us more opportunities for tournaments.
