To discuss the causes and effects of the1987 Kafanchan riots, Have an overview of causes, and trends of the Jos riots of 2010. Introduction Religious conflict exist in several societies today either inter group, intra group r sectarian violence. The Christian crusade and Islamic Jihad is an example of the conflict between the Christians and Muslims. The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria is a contemporary example of sectarian violence, like its counterpart the Boko Haram terrorist group which operates in Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon. The Jos riots of 2010 , and the Kafanchan riots of 1987 is an example of inter-religious conflict in Nigeria. THE CHRISTAIN CRUSADE The Crusades were a series of religious wars sanctioned by the Latin Church in the medieval period. The most commonly known Crusades were the campaigns in the Eastern Mediterranean aimed at recovering the Holy Land from Muslim rule, but the term "Crusades" is also applied to other church-sanctioned campaigns. The Crusades also played an integral role in the expansion of medieval Europe. In all, eight major Crusade expeditions occurred between 1096 and 1291. other scholars are of the idea of four major crusades, and just one The bloody, violent and often ruthless conflicts propelled the status of European Christians, making them major players in the fight for land in the Middle East. Introduction THE FIRST CRUSADE By the end of the 11th century, Western Europe had emerged as a significant power in its own right, though it still lagged behind other Mediterranean civilizations, such as that of the Byzantine Empire (formerly the eastern half of the Roman Empire) and the Islamic Empire of the Middle East and North Africa.
